Player Profile:
Ryan will be making his Warrior roster debut in 2010 after helping out in last year's Bloomington AG tournament. Ryan hit a cool .600 in his first exposure to slow-pitch softball in the tournament and should be a big help the team this year.
Ryan is a baseball player by trade, playing four years of upper-level college ball between division I and division II. He hit over .300 in all four seasons and flashed some left-side power with speed on the bases. While an outfielder in baseball, he can and will be playing some shortstop on the softball team.
Ryan was named the state MVP at the Iowa American Legion baseball tournament his junior year in high school after hitting two homeruns in the state title game, leading his team to back-to-back state championships.
Once he gets used to the softball timing and swing, he should become a force in the batter's box, providing a left-hand presence to a righty-dominated lineup. His versatility in the field will be a big bonus also.
Personal Notes:
Ryan works for US Bank in the Twin Cities and recently bought a condo in St. Louis Park. He is still passionate about baseball and doesn't understand why Nick Punto gets $2 million each year to hit .220 when he thinks he could hit .245 and would play for only $1.5 million. Hard to argue with that logic.
